Chinese-American Tenor Mark Yinghui He has most recently been a 2024 Vocal Fellow at Tanglewood Music Center. In Feburary 2024, Mark joined Virginia Opera as a Herndon Foundation Emerging Artist, performing the role of Prince Yamadori and covering the role of Goro in Virginia Opera’s production of Madama Butterfly under Maestro Adam Turner and Director Mo Zhou. He also appeared as a guest artist performing the role of Spoletta at Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra’s production of Tosca in April 2024. In Season 2025, he will be making his role debut of Monkey/Rat in The Big Swim by Meilina Tsui co-produced by Asia Society Texas and Houston Grand Opera.

In previous seasons, Mark made his professional debut as a Smith Young artist at Cedar Rapids Opera performing the role of Frederick in Cedar Rapids Opera’s production of The Pirates of Penzance staged by Gregory Keller. He has also performed numerous leading tenor roles with the Opera theatre at University of Michigan including Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni Directed by Mo Zhou and conducted Martin Katz, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Tamino in Magic Flute and Sam Polk in Susannah.

With a versatile vocalism, Mark has been an avid singer of chamber repertoire. In early May, 2024, he sang the tenor soloist in the Music from Auschwitz Chamber Orchestra Concert series at Jüdisches Museum Wien, Vienna, Austria and Galicia Jewish Museum, Krakow, Poland. His engagement as a Vocal Fellow at Tanglewood Music Center this summer includes the tenor soloist in the world premiere of “From Genesis” by Daniel Zlatkin, Auf dem Strom with piano and horn by Schubert in the BSO Prelude Concert, song selections by Nadia Boulanger, Charles Ives, and Mozart’s opera concert with the TMC Chamber Orchestra.

Mark Yinghui He has recently finished his MM degree in vocal performance at University of Michigan under the tutelage of Freda Herseth. He also holds a BM degree in vocal performance from University of Massachusetts – Amherst.
